Jakob Wagner studied in Paris and in Munich under Karl Raupp and Ludwig Herterich. From 1885 to 1888 he lived in Italy and from 1891 to 1894 on Sicilia. After that he visited Egypt. In 1898 he settled in Locarno where he pained many landscapes. In 1902 he married Clara Grosch (1863-1932) from Karlsruhe. She painted her husband in 1906. Wagner died in 1915 in Weisslingen.
