Rose Céleste Bache was the daughter of general Jacques Francóis Bache. She married Joseph Marie Vien (1761-1848), the son of the painters Joseph Marie Vien (1716-1809) and Marie Thérèse Reboul (1728-1805). She concentrated on literature and several of her translations from Greek and Latin were published. She was an editor of 'Journal des dames et des modes' under Marie de L'Épinay (1802-1864). She was a member of the Académie royale de Bordeaux, of the Académie de Vaucluse and of other institutions.
