Daughter of the merchant and publisher Johann Hinrich Dimpfel and Catharina Margarethe Moller. Her mother was a sister of J.F. Klopstock's first wife Meta, who died in 1758. She married her nephew Johann Martin von Winthem and they had several children. She was a fine amateur singer and interpreted works of Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach after he came to Hamburg. Two years after her husband's death she married the old Klopstock in 1791. They had been intimate friends for a long time before they married and as early as 1770 he dedicated his "Vaterlandslied" to her. Klopstock died in 1803 and after her own death in 1821 she was buried next to him and Meta at Ottensen, now part of Hamburg. Her daughter Meta von Winthem took lessons with Juliane Benda and was a fine singer as well.
