Marie Favart was born as Pierette Ignace Pingaud. She was adopted by her uncle Antoine Favart and took Marie Favart as her stage name. When she was twelve years old she joined the Comédie Française and she won several prizes. Still she left it in 1851 for the Variétés, probably because she could become more important parts there. She was successful and after two yewars she rejoined the Comédie Française. After she toured France and performed in London she left the Comédie Française again in 1880 and this time for good. She continued her career and often appeared in her birthplace Beaune. She died in Paris in 1908. |
