Ubaldo Bertoli led an adventurous life. He volunteered in Cyrenaica, Lybia when he was seventeen years old, he painted billboards in Ethiopia and he fought as a partisan during the Second World War. After the war he worked as a journalist and edited the third page of the "Gazzetta di Parma". In Rome he was the editor of the newspaper "La sera". He was not only a good writer, but also a skillful illustrator. He also published his experiences with the partisans.
