Edmond Yon was born in Montmartre, that was not yet part of Paris at the time. In 1858 he worked with the engraver and designer Georges-Léon-Alfred Perrichon (1830-1907). He published his work in Monde illustré, L'Illustration and other magazines and he exhibited his engravings and etchings frequently at the Salon in Paris. He created the illustrations for "Quarantième ascension française au mont Blanc" (1874) from photographs by Jules Verne's brother Paul Verne (1829-1897). In 1885 he received the Légion d'honneur. Georges Garen (1854-1913), Henry Tenré (1854-1926) and Charles-Louis Houdard (1855-1931) were his pupils. He died in 1897 in Paris. His work is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts in Brest and the Carnavalet Museum in Paris. Related persons was teacher of Tenré, Henry |
