Rita Reiners moved to Krefeld when she was fourteen years old and there she educated at the gymnasium in Krefeld before she moved to Berlin. In Berlin she was educated as an opera singer between 1932 and 1937. After two years on the stage she had to give up her singing career because of hearing problems. she moved to Budapest with her parents and started a writing career in 1942. She published many volumes of poetry and a few novels. She lived in Budapest until 1944 and in 1952 she returned to Krefeld. In 1976 she received the Ehrenplakette der Stadt Krefeld. In 1980 her autobiography "Venus im Schatten Saturns" was published. She died in 1988 in Krefeld. |
