Anton Moser was the son of a teacher. He had a bariton voice and he was trained as a singer by Willem from the Court Opera in Karlsruhe. In 1895 he debuted in Heidelberg. After stations in Aachen, Zürich and Bremen he was contracted by the Court Opera in Vienna, where he worked with Gustav Mahler and was employed until his early death in 1909. He was popular in Vienna and also appeared in recitals. In 1906 he was invited by Lilli Lehmann to the Salzburg Mozart festival where he sang Masetto. He was to return in Salzburg in 1910 but he suddenly died in November 1909.
