Selma von scheidt debuted in 1891 as Agatha in Weber's "Freischütz". From 1900 onwards she lived in Weimar. There she sang in the premiere of Waldemar von Baussnern's "Dürer in Venedig". She befriended Emma Pollmer after Emma's divorce from Karl May in 1903. She also corresponded with May's second wife Klara. In 1908 she visited Radebeul to convince May to resume his payments to Emma. She was a witness during the trial against Rudolf Lebius in 1910.

She also worked as a singing teacher. In 1948 she performed in public once more together with many students to celebrate her teaching career of 50 years.
