David Brierley was best known as the voice of the robot dog K-9 from the 1979-1980 season of the Doctor Who television series. He also appeared in an early episode of Coronation Street and in many other television productions. He also appeared on the stage in several theatres. Brierley was a fine sailor and a long-distance runner. He died of cancer in London in 2008.
