Héléna Bossis was norn Henrietta Berriau. She was the daughter of Colonel Henri Berriau and the singer and actress Simone Berriau. Her father had died before her birth. She grew up in France and married the actor Jacques Castelot in 1940. They divorced in 1945. In 1950 the actor Léo Lapara became her second husband, but another divorce followed in 1954. Her third husband was actor and producer Daniel Darès. They married in 1971. After her studies at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique she started an acting career. At her mother's Theâtre Antoine she played the main part in Sartre's "La Fontaine respectueuse" in 1946. Her first movie was "Le diable souffle" (1947). She made more movies and worked for the theatre as well as for television until she took over the Theâtre Antoine after her mother's death in 1984.
