Anna Chéri was the younger sister of the actress Rose Chéri and the composer and conductor Victor Chéri. She was contracted by the Théâtre du Gymnase shortly after her sister Rose. She was talented but her ungrateful physique stood in her way during her career. In 1853 she married the actor François-Louis Lesueur. They had two daughters, but one of them died aged 20. In 1876 her husband died, probably of alcohol abuse and in 1882 her brother Victor hanged himself. In 1880 her brother-in-law and manager Montigny died and she retired from the stage. Reputedly she died insane in 1912.
