Salomon Corrodi was the son of an Italian protestant preacher who lived in Switzerland. He studied under Johann Jakob Wetzel (1781-1834) and moved to Rome in 1832 together with Jakob Suter (1805-1874). His two sons Arnold and Hermann were well known painters as well.
