Julius Glückert was the son of Jacob G. Glückert (1815-1881), a master carpenter who became a furniture manufacturer. He joined his father's company and became the owner af his father's death. In 1897 his company completed the breakfast room in the Neue Palais in Darmstadt. He worked together with the Jugendstil artists of the Mathildenhöhe and the architect Joseph Maria Olbrich. In 1901 Olbrich designed a house for Glückert on the Mathildenhöhe that is now known as the Grosses Haus. It was used as an exhibition space. Glückert lived in a house next to it that was designed by Olbrich as well. Glückert was purveyor to both the Russian and the Dutch Court. In 1900 and 1904 his company won prizes at the World Exhibtions in Paris and St. Louis. After his death in 1911 he was buried in the family grave at the Alter Friedhof that was designed by Olbrich. His daughter Änne Klöne (1879-1969) was the owner of the company until is was dissolved in 1943.
