Kaspar Nützel was a patrician from Nuremberg. After his father's death in 1501 he held several offices. In 1502 he became a member of the city council and in 1503 mayor of Neuremberg. From 1504 to 1517 he was the representative of Nuremberg in other cities.

He was an early proponent of Martin Luther and probably before Christmas, 1517 he translated Luther's 95 theses in German. In 1521 he represented Nuremberg at the parliament in Worms.
