The actor Christian Louis Perrin was professionally known by his first name Christian. He started his career in the provinces. In 1847 he joined the performance hall Délassements-Comiques in Paris and in 1849 he was contracted by the Folies-Dramatiques. From 1855 he worked for the Variétés. After he met Jacques Offenbach, he appeared in the premiere of Offenbach's "La Périchole" next to Hortense Schneider on 6 October 1868. After that he appeared in revivals of other plays by Offenbach, including "La Belle Hélène". He followed Offenbach to the Théâtre de la Gaîté where he appeared in the revised version of "Orphée aux Enfers" on 7 February 1874. After Offenbach left the Théâtre de la Gaîté he continued to appear in comic operas there. In 1877 he appeared in a reprise of Offenbach's operetta "Voyage dans la Lune" at the Théâtre du Châtelet. In 1878 he returned to the Variétés. Just before he went on stage for the premiere of the revue "Paris-Exposition" he suffered a stroke on 20 November 1889. He died in on 14 December 1889 and he was buried at Père Lachaise. Events |
