Nina Weisse was the daughter of Josef Weisse and his wife Anna. She was educated at the Theaterakademie in Vienna that was directed by Eduard Kirschner. She debuted in 1872 and her early appearances earned her an engagement at the Court Theatre in Kassel. There she became favourite with the public. In 1875 Heinrich Laube invited her to return to Vienna and she was engaged by Laube at the Stadttheater.

Later she held engagements in Frankfurt am Main, Cologne and Hanover. In 1885 she married the banker Ernst Siegmund Magnus (28/11/1850-05/12/1910) and she left the stage. They had at least two daughters, Käthe (1891, Berlin-1985, Antibes) and Agatha (1894, Berlin-1988, Pasadena). Their home in Berlin was visited by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Gerhard Hauptmann, Arthur Schnitzler and others. She corresponded with Anna Freytag-Strakosch, the wife of Gustav Freytag.
