Emmi Buttikay was the daughter of the composer Ákos Buttykay. Her mother was the operetta star Emmi Kosáry. She worked as a non-contract performer from 1934 onwards. On 09/05/1936 she married the landowner Jeno Roth, who was eleven years older than she was. In 1943 she passed an official actor's exam. She was noticed by Viktor Bánky (1899- 967) who first gave her supporting parts and then main parts. She appeared mostly in comedies and operettas. She made her last movie in 1956.
