Emmi Buttikay was the daughter of the composer Ákos Buttykay. Her mother was the operetta star Emmi Kosáry. She worked as a non-contract performer from 1934 onwards. On 09/05/1936 she married the landowner Jeno Roth, who was eleven years older than she was. In 1943 she passed an official actor's exam. She was noticed by Viktor Bánky (1899- 967) who first gave her supporting parts and then main parts. She appeared mostly in comedies and operettas. She made her last movie in 1956. She travelled to London to obtain medical treatment for a serious illness, but there she fell victim to a carr accident.
