Maria Nicklisch studied acting with Maria Moissi and Leontine Sagan. In 1934 she was engaged at the Staatsschauspiel in Munich. In 1935 she went to the Münchener Kammerspiele where she worked for sixty years until her death. From 1930 to 1940 she was married to film director Hans Schweikart. Nicklisch only appeared in a few movies. In 1939 she was in "Salonwagen E 417" and in "Kitty und die Wltkonferenz", in 1941 in "Der siebente Junge", and in "Kamaraden". In 1967 she appeared in "Liebe für Liebe" and in 1988 in "Faust - Vom Himmel durch die Welt zur Hölle". In 1961 she was aawarded the Bavarian Order of Merit and in 1985 the Cultural Prize of the City of Munich. She was a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts. |
