Margot Hielscher was the daughter of an owner of a travel agency. She was educated as a fashion designer. When she attended the Textil- und Modeschule in Berlin she came into contact with people from the music and the movie scenes. She studied singing and acting and Alberr Florath, Maria Koppenhofer. She was a fine pianist as well and received lessons from Rudolf Serkin. When she worked as a costume designer in 1939 she was noticed by Theo Mackeben and in 1940 she appeared next to Sarah Lander in "Das Herz der Königin". She settled in Bogenhausen in Munich in 1942 and she lived there for the rest of her life. In 1943 she acted and sang in "Reise in die Vergangenheit" (1943). In 1944 she was put on the list of gifted people by the German government. Ater the war she toured as a singer and she continued her film career, appearing in "Hallo Fräulein" (1949). At the scene of the movie she met the film composer Friedrich Meyer and she married him in 1959. In 1957 and 1958 she represented Germany in the Eurovision Sing Contest. She continued her film career as well and in the 1980s she appeared in many television productions and she made appearances until at least 2008. She died in 2017 in Munich, aged 97.
