Angela Salloker received acting lessons from Lori Weoser and in 1928 she debuted at the Stadttheater in Graz as Hannele in "Hanneles Himmelfahrt" by Gerhart Hauptmann. From 1935 to 1938 Margaret Langer was her teacher in Berlin. She appeared in Breslau, Munich and Salzburg before she was contracted by the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. In Vienna she acted at the Burgtheater and at the Theater in der Josephstadt. Her first film was "Der schwarze Walfisch" in 1934 and her appearance as Jeanne d'Arc in "Das Mädchen Johanna" in 1935 was a success. Several movies followed, but in the Second World she withdrew from making films. After the war she concentrated on the theatre, but sometimes she appeared in television productions like "Der Kommissar" (1971/1973) and "Derrick" (1979). In 1949 she had appeared with her husband Armin Dahlen in "Angela". She died in 2006 in Graz and was buried in that city. |
