Agnes Windeck was the daughter of a rich merchant. She received private acting lessons and was engaged at the Deutsche Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and the Königliches Hoftheater in Hanover. After her marrriage in 1915 she withdrew from acting for a long time.

Only in the 1930s she returned to the stage. From 1938 until 1945 she was a drama teacher at the Deutsche Theater in Berlin and for many years she performed at the Berlin cabaret "Die Insulaner". In her later years she often worked for the movies and for television.

In 2004 her grave became a grave of honour of the City of Berlin.
