Georg Graf von Merenberg was a son of prince Nikolaus Wilhelm zu Nassau (1832-1905) and Natalia Pushkina (1836-1913), a daughter of the Russian poet Pushkin. In 1895 he me married Olga princess Yurievska, the morganatic daughter of the Russian czar Alexander II. Their first son Alexander was born in 1896 but he died in 1897. Their son Georg (1897-1965) was the next Graf Merenberg. They also had a daughter, Olga (1898-1963). Olga died in 1925 and in 1930 he married Adelheim Brambeer. She died in 1942 and was buried at the Nordfriedhof in Wiesbaden. Georg died in 1948 and was buried in his father's mausoleum at the Alter Friedhof in Wiesbaden.
