Salviati, Dorothea von

NOBLEMAN (GERMANY)
BORN 10 Sep 1907, Bonn, Nordrhein-Westfalen - DIED 7 May 1972, Bonn, Nordrhein-Westfalen: Bad Godesberg
GRAVE LOCATION Bonn, Nordrhein-Westfalen: Poppelsdorfer Friedhof, Poppelsdorf

Dorothea von Salviati studied with Prince Wilhelm of Prussia and they fell in love with each other. Wilhelm was a grandchild of emperor Wilhelm II. The former emperor didn't approve of a marriage because she was only of minor nobility and he still believed in a restoration of the Hohenzollerns in Germany.

Prince Wilhelm renounced his rights to the German throne and married Dorothea anyway on 3 june 1933 in Bonn. They had two daughters who were admitted to the House of Hohenzollern by the former emperor in 1940. Prince Wilhelm died during the invasion of France in 1940 and she led a quiet life afterwards. She died in 1972 in Bad Godesberg in Bonn.
