First daughter and oldest child of Queen Victoria of England and her husband Prince Albert. In 1858 she married prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia, whom she had first met in 1851. They had eight children and their oldest son was the future emperor Wilhelm II. Her husband was emperor of Germany in 1888 for only 99 days before he died of cancer and was succeeded by Wilhelm.

After she was widowed she lived at castle Friedrichshof near Kronberg im Taunus. Like her husband she was a political liberal. Her son Wilhelm II was certrainly no liberal and their relations were often strained, although they improved after Victoria was less in the public eye.

She corresponded frequently with her mother. On her deathbed in 1901 she took care that her correspondence was brought to England because she didnīt want Wilhelm to read it. She died in 1901 of cancer, only seven months after the death of her mother.
