Adelaide Mary Lockhart was the daughter of the painter William Edward Lockhart (1846-1900). She enjoyed a short career as a painter of flowers. In 1896 she married Ferdinand Goudsmit (1857-1900) from the Netherlands, with whom she travelled to Spitsbergen. About this voyage she wrote the book "Et nos in Arctis" (1913). Their son William Gordon Gerard (1898-1983) was a navy commander. |
