Charles Sneed Williams studied with Edward Biermann in Louisville. He is best known for his portraits and his landscapes. Six of his wall paintings can be found at St. Andrew´s Episcopal Church in Louisville, Kentucky.

He married Elsie Luke, the daughter of the ship builder W.J. Luke. During the First World War he served in the American army. After he died in 1964 he was buried in the Luke family plot in Brookwood Cemetery, Woking.
