BORN 1738, Naunhof estate, Sachsen (near Dresden) - DIED 21 Oct 1809, Dessau, Sachsen-Anhalt

After his studies Ernst Behrisch was offered the court position of Hofmeister in Leipzig by Count Lindenau. He was helped to this position by Christian Gellert. In Leipzig met the young Goethe, whose mentor he became.

In 1767 he moved to Dessau, where he was the educator of the young Count Waldersee and of prince Friedrich von Anhalt-Dessau. He never married and it is likely that he retired in 1789. His writings were hardly published because he didn't like them to become public. He died in 1809 in Dessau.
