Felix Berber studied at the conservatories in Dresden and Leipzig. He became a member of the Orchestra of the Gewandhaus (1898-1903) in Leipzig. He married the young actress Anna Lucie Thiem (1877-1954) when she was already pregnant of their daughter Anita. This daughter was the notorious Anita Berber (1899-1928), who was a celebrity during the 1920s in Berlin and died of tuberculosis after a short and stormy life. In 1902 he divorced Lucie and he married for a another woman. In 1910 he first performed in the United States. From 1920 onwards he was a professor at the Academy in Munich. He married the violonist Milly Wildner in 1924. There he died in 1930. |
