Josefine Scutta was born as Josefine Demmer. Her parents were the actors Karl Ignaz Demmer (1766-a1824) and Karoline Demmer-Krüger (1764-1813). From 1811 she worked at the Theater an der Wien where she was very successful. In 1923 she married George Palmer (1796-1830), who worked as an actor and a director at that theatre. In 1827 their attempt to be engaged at the Court Theatre failed and they went to Lemberg where they enjoyed further success. Palmer became the manager of the theatre in Lemberg in 1830 but he died in the same year. Josefine's second husband was the singer and composer Andreas Scutta (1806-1863). They lived in Vienna where she performed in smaller roles at the Theater in der Leopoldstadt and the Carltheater until 1861. She died in 1863 in Vienna. |
