Carl Heimbs was trained for the wholesale of food before he went to Braunschweig, where he joined a coffee roasting company that was founded by Ferdinand Eichhorn. He expanded it to large company.

In 1932 he was a member of the Deutschen Volkspartei (DVP) and in that capacity he helped Adolf Hitler to become a German citizen in 1932.

In 1933 Heimbs-Kaffee was introduced. After Eichhorn's death in 1934 he became the director of the company. Its buildings were destroyed the bombing of 15 October 1944, but the company continued to exist. In 1958 he was awarded the Goldene Plakette (Golden laque) of the city of Braunschweig.
