Fritedrich Jenschke was the son an accountant from Vienna. His mother was the daughter of a legation councillor from Hannover. His brother was the composer Ernst Arnold. He received a commercial education before he took voice lessons with Karl Streitmann (1858-1937). In 1911 he was engaged at the Stadttheater in Troppau as second operetta tenor. This was a failure and after that he studied at the Operetta School of Ludwig Gothov-Gruneke (1847-1921). On 20 December 1913 he debuted in Baden near Vienna in the operetta "Polenblut" under the name of Fritz Imhoff. This was an instant success. In 1916 he was engaged in Brno and in 1918 in Teplizt-ScHönau. From 1919 to 1922 he worked under Wilhelm Karczag (1857-1923) in Vienna at the operetta stage that was shared by the Raimund Theater and the Theater an der Wien. Fom 1920 to 1928 he was engaged at the Johann Strauss theatre. After that he appeared at most of the main theatres in Vienna, except the Burgtheater. In 1928-1929 he toured with Hubert Marischka in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland. In 1931 he married the actress Huberta Mojzis (1909-2002). They had no children. From 1933 he appeared in numerous movies and in many television productions. From 1938 to 1944 he was engaged at the Raimundtheater and from 1945 to 1948 he was its director. He appeared in "Jedermann" at the Salzburg Festival as the Fat Cousin from 1951 to 1959. From 1959 to 1961 he was employed at the Theater in der Josefstadt. He died in 1961 of cancer.
