Olly Gebauer first took the stage as a singer in the choir of the Johann Strauß-Theater in Vienna. In 1923 she sang "Lachst Du mich auch aus mein Schatz" with Otto Wallburg. With him she appeared in the Admiralpalast in Berlin from 1930 onwards.

After the nazis came to power she left Germany with her Jewish husband, the director Max Nosseck. In Nosseck "Gado Bravo", staged in Portugal, she played the main part. She also appeared in several movies that were shot in Vienna. After suffering from throat problems for a long time she died in Vienna in 1937.
