Konrad Ansorge studied at the Conservatory in Leipzig from 1880 to 1882. From 1883 to 1885 he lived in Weimar, where he was a student of Franz Liszt. Subsequently he toured in Europe and in the USA. In 1891 he married his pupil Margarete Wegelin (1872-1944). They had four children and his son Joachim Ansorge (1893-1947) became a pianist as well. In 1893 he settled in Weimar, but in 1895 he moved to Berlin. There he was a teacher at the Klindworth-Scharwenka-Konservatorium from 1898 to 1904 and from 1916 until his death. He also worked in Königsberg and Prague and in 1918 he was appointed Royal Professor. He died in 1930 in Bern.
