Heinrich Schmid studied at the Technischen Hochschule in Vienna and at the Academy of Arts in that city where he attened Otto Wagner's master class. He started a business cooperation with Hermann Eichinger. In 1909 he won the Olbrich Prize and in 1910 the Gundel Prize. During the First World War he built the Erzherzog-Rainer-Heeresspital, now the Hanusch Hospital. The Schmid-Aichinger company held a leading position in the Volksbau (social housing) in the 'Red' Vienna of the interbellum. Related persons was pupil of Wagner, Otto |
