Georg jung was the son of a hotel owner. He was financially independent and had a natural talent for painting. His first works were created in Vienna in expressionist style. In 1935 he took over the "Grand Hotel de l´Europe" in Salzburg and redecorated it.

In 1939 he settled in Vienna permanently. He experimented with colours and painted allegorical and mythological scenes. From 1942 he was prohibited from exhibiting because his work was considered degenerate.

His hotel was damaged severely in 1944 and in 1952 he decided that he wouldn't rebuild it. He died in 1957, but it took decaded before he was recognised as one of the most important painters from Salzburg in his time.
