Henriette Eberwein was the daughter of the composer and pianist Johann Wilhelm Hässler (1747-1822) and the singer Sophia Barbara Hässler (born Kiel, 1761-1844). She had a fine voice after taking lessons with Benedict Bierey in Dresden she debuted on the stage in Weimar in 1807. In 1812 she married the composer and conductor Carl Eberwein. Their son Friedrich (1814-1875) became a pianist and a composer.

Together with Karl Melchior Jakob Moltke, Karl Stromeier and Karoline Jagemann she formed a famous quartet of actors in Weimar. She and Jagemann often alternated in roles. She made guest appearances in Prague (1814), Hamburg (1817), Leipzig (1818), Munich (1921) and Frakfurt am Main (1827). Jagemann retired in 1828 and by that time Eberwein's voice had weakened.
