Franz Bendel was the son of a teacher. He was a student Josef Proksch and later a student of Franz Liszt in Weimar for five years. In Weimar he met Wendelin Weißheimer. From 1848 to 1862 he worked as music teacher at the house of count Otto von Westphal. From 1862 onwards he lived in Berlin where he was a tracher at the Neue Akademie der Tonkunst. He authored hundreds of compositions, mostly for the piano. As a pianist he gave concerts in Prague, Vienna and other cities. He also visited Boston several times. He died of typhoid fever in 1841, aged only 41. Related persons was pupil of Liszt, Franz |
