Mary Krebs was the daughter of pianist Carl August Krebs and opera singer Aloysia Krebs-Michalesi. She was taught the piano by her father when she was six years old and in 1863 she gave her first concert at the Hotel de Saxe in Dresden. More concerts in Germany and England followed. In 1863 king John of Saxony gave her the title of Royal Pianist. She toured Italy in the company of Adelina Patti and in 1870 she toured the USA for two years. Tours to England and Russia followed. In 1887 she married royal equerry Theodor Brenning, but she continued her career. After her marriage she lived at an estate in Dresden-Strehlen.
