CAUSE OF DEATH murdered
GRAVE LOCATION Stahnsdorf, Brandenburg: Südwestkirchhof, Bahnhofstrasse (Block Charlottenburg, Gartenblock III, Gartenstelle 50 )

Hermann Steinschneider came from a poor Jewish family, but by 1918 he had become very famous as a clairvoyant and occultist. In later years it became clear that his experiments were bluffs, but in his days he performed in Europe, Asia and America. He even wanted to start a school of occultism of his own, but this project failed.

Although he was a Jew he supported Hitler after 1930. He was probably in contact with leaders of the SA, which might explain how he was able to predict the fire at the Reichstag in 1933. On Feb 26th, 1933 he said at a private seance that he saw "a large house burning". On March 24th he was arrested and on April 7 workers found his murdered body in the woods near Berlin. Afther the post mortem his body was released, but it was never claimed. There was not a letter in the papers on the death of this man who had filled large halls only months before. He was buried in silence at Stahnsdorf cemetery in Berlin.
