Tina Blau was a landscapepainter who painted in the Viennese Jugendstil. She was the daiughter of the Jewish army physician Simon Balu. She was taught painting by August Schaeffer von Wienwald, Wilhelm Lindschmitt and Emil Jakob Schindler. In 1883 she converted to the protestant faith and in 1884 she married the painter Heinrich Lang (1838-1891). They settled in Munich where she taught still life painting at the Ladies Academy of the Münchner Künstlerinnenverein. In 1890 60 of her works were exhibited at the Kunstverein. After her husband's death she travelled to the Netherlands and to Italy. After that she returned to Vienna where she had a studio near the Rotunede building at the Prater. In 1897 she was a co-founder of the Kunstschule für Frauen und Mädchen (Art School for Women and Girls) in Vienna. She taught there from 1898 until 1915. She died in 1916 in Vienna. In 1917 an exhibition in her memory was held at the Künstlerhaus in Vienna. Related persons was pupil of Schindler, Emil Jakob |
