Klara Vespermann came from a simple family. At an early age she came into contact with the theatre and her mezzosoprano voice attracted the attention of Peter von Winter. He adopted her and educated her as a singer. In 1816 she debuted at the Court Opera in Munich in the German premiere of Winter's opera "Zaira". She also performed as Myrrha in "Unterbrochenes Osterfest". She made guest appearances at the Court Opera in Berlin, the Court Opera in Dresden and the Opera in Leipzig. In 1819 she became a member of the Court Opera. She was most successfull in Rossini's opera's. She sang the role of Agatha in the Munich premiere of Carl Maria von Weber's "Der Freischütz". Von Wener praised her voice and her mime. She married the court actor Wilhelm Vespermann (1784-1834). Their daughter was the writer Maria Vespermann (1823-1886).
