Gustave Lemoine of one of France's best-known test pilots. He was the holder of several world records. One of them was reaching a height of 13,660 meters (44,816 feet) in a Potez 50 on 28 Sep 1933.

When a new bomber he was testing got out of control near Amiens he leaped from the plane, but his parachute failed to open and he was killed.
