Émilie Louise de Beauharnais was a daughter of François de Beauharnais and Françoise de Beauharnais. Her parents were cousins.

She married Antoine-Marie-Chamans, Comte de Lavalette. They had a daughter, Joséphine, who was born on April 1st, 1802 (she died in 1886). In 1815 she changed clothers with her husband the night before he would be executed for treason. He escaped and she was imprisoned. By the time she was released on January 23th, 1816 she was confused and had to be put in a mental institution.

After Lavalette was able to return to France they were reunited. Lavalette died in 1830. Nothing is known about the rest of her life. She died in 1855.
