Gisella Sofio was the daughter of an Anglo-Egyptian count. Against the wishes of her parents she appeared in the variety show "Il Tevere blue". The actors Totò, Anna Magnani and Wanda Osiris were in the audience and noticed her. Totò even asked her mother to allow her to continue her career. Her first movie part was in Mario Mattoli 's "Accidenti alle tasse!". She married the lawyer Maurizio Gajo and they had a son, Roberto Gajo (1953-2020). During the 1950s and the early 1960s she played in many movies and she continued her film during the rest of her life. In 1962 she played with Totò in "Lo smemorato di Collegno". She also appeared in the theatre and worked for television. In 1961 she appeared in the musical comedy "Enrico '61" in Milan. Her last film "Il crimine non va in pensione" was released after her death in2017. |
