Hilde Jary started her acting career at small stages before she obtained a part in the silent movie "O alte Burschenherrlichkeit". From 1925 to 1926 she was engaged at the Württembergischen Volksbühne in Stuttgart and from 1926 to 1930 she worked for the Schauspielhaus in Bremen. From 1930 to 1931 she performed at the Schauspielhaus in Leipzig. In 1934 she married the director Detlef Sierck and she ended her acting career. In 1937 they emigrated to Hollywood where her husband had a successful career under the name of Douglas Sirk. Later they moved to Switzerland and lived in Lugano.
