Edward Thomas Allan was born in London. He was the Secretary of the King's Theatre in London from 1821 to 1828 at the time that John Ebers (1778-1858) was its manager. In 1824 he married the opera singer Rosalbina Caradori. He died in 1862 in Surbiton, Surrey and was buried at Kensal Green Cemetery in London. His wife was buried in the same grave three years later.
