Tea Bonelli was the wife of the cartoonist and publisher Gianluigi Bonelli and the mother of the cartoonist Sergio Bonelli. During the Second World War she left Milan with her son in Liguria. After the war Bonelli appeared with a new partner. They agreed to separate and as part of the settlement she became the owner of his publishing company Edizioni Audace.

The former housewife thus became a publisher and successfully published the "Tex", created by Aurelio Galleppini and her former husband as well many other productions. In 1988 the name of the publishing house was changed to Sergio Bonelli Editore.
