Pietro Sgarabotto was the son of the violin maker Gaetanoo Sgarabotto. He started as a violinist but soon joined his father in the production of violins. Together they directed the Parma Violin Making School between 1928 and 1937. In 1936 he married Maria Minetti and he worked for hardware shops. Presumably the market for violins improved after the war, because in 1947 he resumed production. In 1959 he accepted a position as a teacher at the Cremona Violin Making School and he worked there until he retired and returned to Parma in 1973. He still produced violins until the late 1970s. He died in Parma in 1990. Family Father: Sgarabotto, Gaetano |
