Cécile von Mendelssohn-Bartholdi was the daughter of Otto von Mendelssohn-Bartholdi (1868-1949) and his niece Cécile von Mendelssohn-Bartholdi (1870-1943). In 1920 she married Benoit Oppenheim. They had two children, but they divorced. In 1938 she married the Swedish figure skater Gillis Grafström, who died two months after their marriage. He was buried at the Bornstedter Friedhof in Potsdam. After her own death in 1995 she was buried beside him.
